Once the women of the church found out that Jennifer and Raymond had wanted a church wedding, but couldn’t afford one, the preperations began….without Jennifer’s knowledge of course. Both Jennifer and Raymond were in wheelchairs – her’s from a lifelong medical condition, his from an accident at work.

Together they motored around town in their wheelchairs, known to most of Danville, VA. Both volunteered at the local hospital, both were active in their church.  But Jennifer’s dream had always been being married in a house of God…and now she was about to be.

Children giggled and cameras flashed as Raymond and Jennifer rolled down the aisle together. The service was moving and the kiss Raymond planted on his “new” bride had the church laughing and clapping. After the service everyone moved downstairs to the reception- ice cream, cake, lunch…a perfect ending to the morning.

I photographed this lovely wedding. And I was impressed by a couple of things – one being how quickly the plans all came together and how they managed to keep the plans a secret…and two, the fact that the women of the church created everything – from the decorations and flower arrangements to the bouquet of flowers. Is there someone you know who’s dreaming of a picture perfect wedding and can’t afford it? Then step in and help.

Now. Over the next few days I’m going to be talking about lists…lists of lists. Top five lists. Top five things brides forget to do and all that. Fascinating stuff…maybe I’ll add, “Forget to invite their best friends to their weddings,” on it.

I had to hear the news over the melons and citrus in the grocery. Ruined a perfectly good shopping trip. I feel kind of sad. I was looking forward to it. Of course I laid awake all night wondering what he looked like and what he did for a living. Then Mark called to tell me he found out the fellow is independently wealthy. Well, there goes my plan of getting her to my blog so I can brag about how much money she could have saved. Well bother, as Pooh would say.

“Oh I’m not returning it,” her mother said. Her daughter was surprised.

“I know there’s not anywhere else you could really wear something like that,” she said. “Where will you wear it?”

“To the rehearsal dinner,” her mother said, smiling.

I love it! Wouldn’t you do the same?

Yummy with milk of course...

How romantic eh? Especially for ranchers and those who LOVE milk!

I think it just goes to show you that your wedding day is YOUR day…and if you want to remember it with cows or flowers or airplane crashes (see our earlier post – with the wedding cake with the crashed plane and bulletholes on it…). Enjoy my friends!!
